Scrap run number two. DME 6365 "City of Wosley" and STLH 5651 layover at Welland Yard while 254's power has once again taken off somewhere. As almost any railfan knows, CP is cutting to the bone to create new efficiencies. With the downturn in the economy, Hunter Harrison mentioned that assets will be utilized to keep the company's success charging ahead. Well, many of those assets were just lying around and have no practical use, and probably won't for a while, so scrap is really the only option since leasing companies have no use for them right now. CP sidelining the SD40-2 fleet will also drastically reduce maintenance costs. As for DME 6365 and STLH 5651, they had laid over in Welland for about a day like the previous DME lashup did, and most likely will face the same fate, with supposedly is scrap in Buffalo.

Shot opportunities like this are ones to be grateful for, as on both occasions these units were already in Welland Yard before I found out they were there. This is indeed a drone shot like the day before, and I did a lot of scanning to make sure no human interaction whatsoever would take place (particularly CP employees) before getting down this low. This is the closest I can get to experiencing the days of all you older railfans, but like foot entry into yards, I'm sure it won't be long before this is strictly prohibited as well.

  1. Don’t worry…Mooney will bail you out, but if he doesn’t answer, try Ngineered4u…

  2. I have a few backups. I know a former CP conductor that has a few secrets he’d like to rat out CP on. So if he threatens to squeal on them if I’m not released, I’ll be good. Lol.
