2 units instead of the 1 CN used? Is it because of the trip from Hamilton and back?
Not really, the reason was likely operational. CN used to do a drop switch to run-around the cars before returning once done switching, SOR switched Ingenia with a locomotive on each end of the cars to avoid the ‘flying switch’ using 4003 to shove to the rear and re-combine with 1569 before returning to Brantford yard.
Because G&W rules prohibit kicking or dropping, and cutting cars off in motion.
