Testing the corridor, VIA 688 "Charges" away from Guelph Downtown with a Venture trainset. Testing all corridor stations in Ontario except the Strathroy Sub, not until acceptance testing is completed (which is a multi month process) will the units receive VIA marks and VIA ownership. Hence why they are still SIXX reporting marks, indicating Siemens ownership.

  1. Beautiful looking equipment. But I question the introduction of semi-permanently coupled 5 car “train sets.” Doesn’t anyone remember the introduction of the 5 car sets of Tempo equipment. It was almost overnight that CN realized they need only 3 cars on some runs and 8+ on others. Where is the flexibility with this equipment? It is great to see VIA purchasing new equipment, but is that what the market really needs? Time will tell. Great pictured though!!
