Caption: The Canadian Northern Railway entered the newly incorporated City of Edmonton in 1905, followed in 1909 by the Grand Trunk Pacific (which used the CNoR’s station). The Canadian Pacific Railway entered downtown in May 1906 over the Edmonton, Yukon and Pacific, subsequently completing the High Level Bridge in 1913. CN and CP continued to interchange traffic downtown until 15 July 1989 and CN wound down operations later that year, eventually abandoning most of the loop track west of the station. Here we have 1978 shot of CN SW900 7220 resting in City Yard.
