The flagship works its way west, as winter starts to ease its grip on Ontario. 3 buffers up front, and one on the tail. One can only hope that nonsense soon comes to a happy end.

  1. I just completed a trip from Winnipeg to Churchill & return (March 12-18) on VIA 693 & 692 The Hudson Bay. Yep, a buffer car on each end of the consist! The closest we came to another train was when standing at a terminal/yard during a station stop. Two buffers added 50% more to the consist! The only thing that gained with the addition of these two cars was unnecessary wear & tear on empty rolling stock, and additional fuel consumption. Ya just gotta shake your head!
