The Hagersville sub isn't the most scenic railway out there, but it does have its moments - Caledonia is by far the most scenic location and a must stop for any photographer. So not long after CN took the line back I took some time to follow 580 on a warm October day, so warm that the crew had the air conditioning full blast. This lashup was almost a complete return to 1997 again, save for the website on the middle unit. While the Hagersville sub has been shut down about 5 months now, rumours are rife it's about to start up again. I'm also told they had a similar shutdown in 2006 for 3 months.

  1. Love this angle!

  2. The worst was my regular trips to port dover knowing full well, the chances of a daylight RLHH train here were slim to none…

it just looked so pretty. CN made it really easy to catch :)

  3. Yes, prior to CN taking back the line…getting a daylight RLHH train was hard to come by and when it did happen it often was not on the greatest day weather wise. That being said I did manage a handful of “decent day” shots of them over the years prior to CN coming back. Now it is like fish in a barrel.
