Caption: This is train 559 Eastbound going through Rimouski station on a Sunday afternoon. Back until about a year ago, the regular 402/403 ran as a 559 on Sundays only between Mont-Joli and Rivière-du-Loup in order to feed the newsprint mill with some fresh woodchips and sometimes empty boxcars. Since the mill's closure in early 2025, the Sunday 559 run was replaced by the 559 run that used to run on Saturday evenings, which is made up of the usual 2 geeps servicing April Lubricants in L'Isle-Verte, JM Bastille and the transload facility in Rivière-du-Loup and sometimes the Coop in Le Bic. They depart Mont-Joli with cars dropped from train 402 in the morning, and unlike the old run, returns light to Mont-Joli in the afternoon, as they leave the westward bound freight cars in RDL for 403 to pick up the next morning. In this picture, we can see that the train brings back a few empty woodchip gondolas from the mill, as they are heading to Fornebu lumber in Bathurst for reloading. Another thing that have changed since this picture was taken is the platform. The following year, the city's public works torn up the old asphalt platform and laid down a new one made of gravel, they also replaced the old light fixtures that weren't working anymore with brand new LED ones, keeping them in the same style as the old ones, although now painted in black. Not all changes are for the worst i guess!

Very nice and thanks for the information. Went by here twice on the Ocean (both ways) at the beginning of May, 2025 on a round trip to Halifax, both times sound a sleep !
Thank you for posting.
