To avoid railway delays, the St. Lawrence Seaway built a double track "diversion" which to allow CN (and now also AMT and VIA) trains to avoid conflicts with marine traffic. Here we see Toronto-Halifax freight 308 with a C630m/M636/C630m lash-up passing over the St. Lambert locks and Riverside Road as it approaches the St. Lambert station where it will receive train order for its run to Joffre Yard.

  1. Excellent! Did you know the train would take the diversion, or just got lucky?

  2. I had a couple of clues, Michael…there was a clear signal on the South Track east of the St. Lambert station and the lift bridge was up on the “straight through” route!

  3. Cool, I’ll have to try this shot sometime!
