Well, there's really only one spot you can truly claim an Amtrak train in Ontario today and this is it. Of course it took something this rare for me to actually chase a train to Niagara Falls, and after the crew change at the NF station, VIA 97 becomes Amtrak 64 to New York City after the Amtrak crew takes control to cross the Whirlpool Bridge.

  1. Timely, this bridge is being redecked and as of September 9, no train movements will be allowed until November.
Travellers, the few that there are these days, will have to take a bus and/or a GO train ( if on weekends).

  2. There was a time when this was a busy commercial bridge crossing. Both truck and rail. Today? Desolate.

  3. Stephen..did you have permission to be on Mooney’s turf?

  4. No. What’s my penance.

  5. P.S – Snake – my photo of 143 at 7th concession is 1 country block from Ryan Gaynors house. PSST I was on HIS territory ! hahaha

  6. Bruce thanks for the info – I did not know this. Interesting there seems to be a “heritage” unit in the mix right now as of today for those getting shots before it stops.
