Well this was an interesting meet to see. Though it looks like the two trains will converge in the intersection, they are actually both eastbound. SOR is shoving, while CP is pulling ahead. Crews from both trains readying to throw switches. CP is presumably going to pull across Ottawa Street and shove back west to work the interchange. If you're going to get a CN-CP meet in industrial Hamilton, this is a pretty likely spot. I saw SOR and CP meet here a couple of times, and came within seconds of a meet shot with CN and CP earlier this month. Funnily enough, the arrival of the second train was evidently enough for the driver of the black car, pictured turning around to find an alternate route.

  1. Great! I’ve seen a meet here about four times, one on camera as it was pretty good. I’d certainly do differently now but this is what I chose to showcase about 10 years back when I posted this:

  2. Ah there it is! I couldn’t find it using generic search terms. Would’ve linked it in the caption

  3. This came up on the banner and it made me laugh. It’s amazing how impatient some people are. The 07:00 job last week had a pair of locomotives and a couple of cars and some guy turned around at Gage Ave. Getting CN and CP in the same shot would be cool. Great shot James.

  4. Thanks Rob. TH21 and the 1500 were about 5 seconds apart (and no I’m not being dramatic) from a perfect Ottawa Street meet yesterday evening. So close but so far away haha.
