Where did these things go? after testing on CN and later CP (Colin Tytler) these things dissiapeared. Pictured is a EMDX demonstrator unit on 422 as they make their Aldershot setoff - with the parts cars being set off for Oakville. I'm not sure Oakville will have any parts cars when they open in a few months time...?

Also does anyone know the difference between the UP painted demonstrators and the Caterpillar yellow ones?

  1. No difference that I know of, but I heard on CP, they were sucking fuel down like candy. One report had it that when stopped, it slurped 450 gallons of fuel.

Not only that, while good to photograph (the only one I’d seen was one of the demos in Progress Rail paint on CP just east of Kennedy Rd. in Scarborough and it was trailing), the crews hated them.

  2. Where’d they go? Hopefully the scrap heap where they belong. Those things were absolute garbage and nothing but a headache to work with.

  3. Crazy catch

  4. I believe only UP currently has these in service and CSX dumped their fleet already.

  5. UP still has theirs but I believe they are in storage thanks to the love affair they have with the C44ACM. CSX’s and the cancelled NS order are down in Mexico, with PLRX reporting marks for the CSX ones (in CSX paint) and EMDX marks for the cancelled NS order painted in NS dress.
