View From the Drivers' Seat: This is how it looked out the engineers window of the old CP RS-3 8459 on a nice warm day back in June of 1979. The switcher was based in Woodstock back at that time, and it still sported what was once a beautiful tuscan & grey, but now tattered, oily and dull. Born in 1954, this unit 'passed away' sometime around 1982. It is nice that the station still survives.

  1. Great shot!

  2. Train order signal, station operator, railroaders that don’t look like highway construction flagmen, and a classic vantage point for the photographer (both the view and the power). A bit of a role reversal here… shot of the folks on the ground from the cab. Love it!

  3. M&M…thanks for compliments. Must add it is now hard to believe we drove cars like those pictured. All of ‘em ‘boats’.
It is sad that a scene like this activity around the station is already a thing of the past.

  4. Classic!
