The Orange Invasion is well under way and for the first time, a train of entirely GW painted, Goderich-Exeter logo engines are the sole power on the flagship Stratford to Mac Yard turn. For those who enjoy GW orange (Rob!) opportunities await :) For those who want last shots of old RA, Railtex, or Raillink colours, get your shots soon, it won't be long until GW orange dominates the Rail America roads acquired by Genesee & Wyoming.

  1. Nicely done Steve. I must say that I am looking forward to shooting straight orange consists. It looks very sharp, maybe over time it will get boring but I find the power on GEXR/SOR are getting boring now…

  2. SWEET! Nice shot Mr. Host.

  3. Since you failed to pin point your photo location on the map, is this from the side of Hwy. 7 east of Jones Baseline? Were you standing on top of the CRV for elevation?

  4. Great shot Steve. What is the number of the trailing unit? Didn’t know there was another freshly painted unit in the area (aside from 3030)?

  5. The unit is GEXR 3393 ex GSCX 7362. It was just repainted at LDS in Sarnia.

  6. Yes Rob, I failed :) However it has been corrected. You are right, just east of Jones Baseline Rd. And yes, standing on SUV. It’s not a CRV tho ;) Stuart, this photo is the first revenue trip for 3393 in the new paint.

  7. Well, we’re up to two orange suckers on the GEXR and I am already sick of orange. Looks like someone misplaced power from the Huron Central, or the Quebec Gatineau, or ??? Nice shot, M. Host, and, Joseph, have fun with those bright G&W oranges. Me? I think I will detour over to the OSR for some real entertainment. :o ) The loss of colours on the GEXR will be a hard thing for me to swallow.

  8. Arnold, GEXR 3030 is on the property too – problem is it ran into trouble on the first revenue run and is now awaiting repairs in Goderich. Lots of non GW painted power still assigned to Kitchener and Stratford though. http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=12116

  9. Agreed. Still not sure I like this particular shade of orange; the black stripes are a nice touch. Never understood light colours being applied to underframe areas subject to road grime (see plow/pilot on 2303), though I gather the yellow paint is no doubt safety related. Great to see the involvement of local enterprises performing the refurbishment!

  10. Very nice shot Steve. Looking forward to getting my first all orange shot soon.
