A miserable typical December day, but I finally, after many attempts was able to catch a train heading northward into Hamilton at the Dewitt Rd crossing in Stoney Creek. For some reason unknown to me the hillside was undergoing a brush-cutting, which provided a rare opportunity here. Followers of RP will notice how many photos of TH&B there are out there, but how FEW of them feature northward moves. Darn hard to catch. On this dark afternoon, TH&B 401, 402 and 77 is the power seen downbound. This area now is rather built up, huge homes crowded in a modern subdivision of the people kind, and still, Dewitt Rd is a steep climb, one way upward.

  1. Which line is this today Mr Mooney?

  2. This is the now-CP line that comes down the hill from Welland. Most of us shoot trains along here either from Kinnear in Hamilton or up top the grade at Vinemount. The line joins up with CN at Brookfield and off thru Fort Erie to the US of A.

  3. Ahh alright, thank you. I’ve passed it many times not knowing what it was…I thought it was a local only line for some reason.
