CP 550 with UP 3649, CP 8563, CP 6232, CP 9544, CP 8714, CP 5648, UP 4863 and UP 3984 finally came through at Orrs Lake. We were not picking up anything on the radio that they stopped at Wolverton to pick up some locomotives. Before CP 550 made it here, we were expecting just the UP 3649 and CP 8563. I apologize I should have sent an OS here but we chased the thing to Guelph Jct. So, I was heavy in chase mode; however, luckily there was an OS sent from Ayr that he was on the move again. Nonetheless, it was a killer catch and cool that we had no idea of the extra power until it got to us. Note the yellow tape at the back of the CP 9544. Does anyone know where the extra power came from? (what train?) Time, 12:00.

  1. The extra power came from 242? I think it was 242

  2. Jude B, were you the one who sent the OS from Ayr? Nice catch eh!

  3. Yes I did! It was a great sight to see!

  4. What does OS mean again? XD

  5. I’m actually not sure what OS stands for; I just heard the term floating around for giving people heads ups in the railfan community.

  6. oh,

  7. I believe it means On Sheet. It’s a term from the days of operators posted at stations when an operator gave clearances (form 19y) to trains.

So in essence, When a train passes your location, you OS it. (In your notebook, or otherwise)
