Unfortunately this old scene is a bit grainy, but one can see the daily Conrail transfer to Fort Erie from Buffalo stretches all the way back past the customs on the American side. This location has changed so much in the past 35 years since I wandered up on the Central Av overpass to bag this photograph. That modern CN/CP/MCR station on the left was boarded up in the 1980s (after the last CP passenger Budds) and demolished around 1999. The station right by the bridge, the old International Customs GTR brick structure, built in 1873, was moved to the RR museum on Central Av in May 1982, and on the right, where the stub tracks used by aeroplane part shipments by Fleet back in these days, there used to be a GTW station that was demolished some time in the early 1970s. And of course most of this trackage has been lifted. Second unit in this consist of what I believe were referred to as GP-10s is #5441. This caption is from memory so I am sure to hear from somebody. :o)

  1. and there’s a Ford/Mercury dealer…where you could go a trade up your old blue boxy train chaser :)

  2. Don’t get me started on that car. When I finally got rid of it in 1993, after 17 years service, I called a “Cash for your Car” guy. He came, took one look at it, told me flat out he could give me Nothing for it. What the hell, I had him tow it out anyway. :o (

  3. I’LL “star” this one Mister M based on the fascinating place Fort Dreary must have been.
Lots of scenery in this shot.
