Back on July 4, 2007, I had to go to St. Catharines for traffic control training for my job at the time. So why not try and do a bit of foaming while in the area? On this particular day, an export unit train was out. Here we see train X436 going by the St. Catharines VIA station with WC 6940 and a string of export locomotives for Algeria. Note, these CN grey with orange stripe locomotives were kicking around back in 2006-2007; not sure what happened to them.

  1. I saw them moving these out down in Welland, Kevin. I wish I had followed them to St. Kitts.

  2. At the thumbnail on my phone, I thought this was a stack train, which is just about as rare in St Catharines.

  3. Stack trains are not rare to St Catherines. Well now they are, but I took many stack trains from Buffalo to Toronto and return in the 90′s

  4. And I recall when some poor unsuspecting soul walked out in front of a train in Grimsby by going around the downed gates; he was wiped out by a good sized stack train; and one was also coming the other way; both held while investigation was ongoing. This must have been late 1980s.
