It has been past 40 years since I took this photo of the old CP Upsala station, which was visible from Hwy 17 as I passed thru town. I am probably a bit off on the GPS co-ordinates. Back of my mind I keep thinking this structure was saved, and moved. To a museum somewhere. Would appreciate being filled in on this. As in when it was moved, etc. Nice old building, and well worth saving.

  1. Another Mooney Station Picture! Excellent view.

  2. Great shot….another country station that had served a small community. Awesome as usual sir.

  3. The station exit’s just south of Thunder Bay at Founders Museum and pioneer Village. There is an old CP van sitting in front of it and it is painted in an awful yellow. Nothing near the CP Rail version it wore before.

  4. Thanks for comments. Nice to know there are at least a few station fans out there. As far as moving this building to Thunder Bay, that must have been quite the hike. Appreciate the info, DAY.

  5. In Google Street View it appears to be in good shape

  6. Stations does appear to be in great shape..but I question it’s appearance? From Google street view, it’s appearance at the Museum / Pioneer Village resembles more like those found in Ontario at Grand Valley, Arthur, etc…but maybe it was restored to what it should have looked like as compared to your picture Arnold?

I just hope they didn’t pull another station somewhere else and put nameboards on it calling it the Upsala station, therefore causing confusion among some…similar incident happened in Cannington where their station supposedly still stands today, but it’s not the Cannington station. It’s the station from Mount Albert.

Guess in a coupe of weeks when I am in Thunder Bay, I hope to venture out and find out more information on the appearance of it.

  7. It is the station Todd. Just restored.
