The NS autoparts train #328 once again outdid itself with its' remarkable variety of power. Seen on this morning roaring thru the Nelles Rd crossing at Grimsby is a seldom-seen (in Ontario) BNSF paint scheme from the early '90s. I've always considered demise of this train the single biggest loss in my railfanning history around these parts. The train could feature anything up front.......whatever was available. Todays head end features BNSF 9471 and NS 9476. This is as close as I got catching two roads with the same unit numbers.......

  1. Nice. I chased a solid pair of BN “Executive” Mac’s on 327 between Ingersoll and St Thomas in 2005. It happened more than once and yes, we took it for granted.

How often did BNSF orange lead NS? Too many times to count.

Or there was the day I shot 327 with a pair of CN’s… oh yeah.

  2. Steve, I think it would be fascinating to be able to go thru all the power listings for #327/328 over the timeframe and see how many roads were represented on this train. I did get a 327/328 meet here once and all 4 units different roads, and none NS or CP!!! The BNSF really started to come on strong near the end of this trains’ existence. Ya gotta admit it all made us want to head out any given day.

  3. Sounds like CN 528/529 in Montreal today… Predominantly runs with NS power but I have shot that train with CN, UP, KCS, CP & BNSF power leading.

  4. Man, I do miss this train. Always something neat on it.

  5. I caught this in St. Thomas! Boy do I need to pull out my shots…
