Growing up, Canadian National's Oakville subdivision was the only rail line I knew much about. Considering the variety of traffic that ran over the line, I didn't need much more. CN had a few through freights along with locals traveling the entire subdivision, CP traveled using trackage rights. Then there was the passenger trains, single and bi-level GO trains along with a mix of VIA trains and a pair of Amtrak trains. That was the 1980s and 1990s. Today Metrolinx owns the line and most of the freight traffic has bee re-routed elsewhere leaving little excitement on line for me. My son on the other hand has found the excitement I once had for the line and has taught me to find new photo opportunities for a line that once held so many. The Credit River bridge has long been a favourite location of mine and now the torch has been passed.

  1. No doubt that will be a popular keepsake for the little guy when he grows up.
