At Alton, foliage is in full bloom as the Credit Valley Explorer's second to last Fall excursion heads north toward Orangeville with horns blarin' for Station and Edmund streets.
I'm always amazed at the little towns that dot the Orangeville-Brampton Railway - clearly the Canadian Pacific Railway's Owen Sound subdivision had a lot to do with these towns histories, and it's a pleasure to be able to photograph action in small towns since most north of the 401 lost railway service 20-30 years ago. I also didn't expect to have foliage this late in October - I tend to have an extremely busy October schedule and foliage photography can be difficult for me. This is the first image in a series I'll do from this trip, watch for more over the coming weeks.

  1. Great shot Steve. I love the composition. Guess there’s an added benefit to having 4014 facing north. Next time you’re there, checkout the phone box by the old siding.

  2. Kudos to you sir, great fall color and great lighting too.

  3. Nice shot!
The colours this year were much better then I expected considering the hot dry summer :)

  4. Sweet. Well done Stephen.

  5. Thanks all. Steve I will have to check that out, too bad though I took my family thru the area again on Sunday to visit (great) Grandma in Brampton. A beautiful drive.

A railway phone booth in Guelph was axed last year with CTC installation at mp49. Not many left. One in Fort Erie at the bridge. still painted and labelled.

  6. Steve I was able to use the phone box for a photo in 2017, a photo to be posted when it tickles my fancy.

    Thanks again for the tip.
