The Norfolk Southern haulage trains from St. Thomas always interesting as you were never sure what might show up leading them. Today's train was lead by a former Conrail SD60I.

  1. What we often thought of as the old “standard shot” at Copetown sure looks beautiful now, doesn’t it?

  2. That’s true, just one more “no hassle” spot that is not as accessible as it used to be.

  3. Glenn, I am thinking more of that Conrail leader as well……it is a striking image even more because of that. And the old Watchman’s Shanty to the left….it would be nice if you or anyone on this list could give us a rundown on it. All I can recall is that it was manned regularly back in the 70s-80s ??? due to endless sinkhole problems in the area and said watchman was not relieved until CN shored up the whole area sometime around 1990. I’m only guessing here. It is a great story I’d love to hear details of……….
