Canada Crushed Stone electric dump motor 11 is pictured hauling loads of excavated material along the line from their Greensville quarry in April 1963. One of four units built by Canadian Car and Foundry in 1933 (units 8-11), 11 and her sisters were used for hauling excavated material from the upper quarry areas to the dumper on the hill at CCS's plant in Dundas (now the site of "Dundas Peak"). They also hauled dumper cars carrying material that were coupled behind. Electric operations at CCS ended in 1975.

  1. wow now this is rare. Id love to see someone post a photo of the double main track mainline of this railway….m

folks who viist the dundas peak and park along oldfield rd would be suprise to know you walked on the former right of way.m which existed until mid 1970′s and is now largely unrecognizeable except by satellite.

    thanks Bill!

  2. Amazing shot. I remember this bridge being dismantled and did go up and shoot the double track mainline, but rails was being removed in sections by then. Probably 1975 or so.

  3. Oh, and that old #11 used to be a trolley on the Hamilton, Grimsby & Beamsville at one time, was it not?

  4. What an interesting operation!

  5. Is this the bridge on harvest Rd past greensville school?

  6. Yes, thats the bridge. Torn down about 20 yrs back, I think.

  7. This bridge wasn’t torn that long ago . Less than 10 years I would say I used to play in the river there.this is a amazing picture, I grew up in greensville.

  8. I came across a fascinating web article about this operation, with lots of pictures. http://www.trainweb.org/oldtimetrains/industrial/ont/canada_crushed.htm
