For a number of years Alstom in Montreal manufactured numerous SD40s and SD45s into what they classified as SD40-3s. In the 1990s CN sent a number of old non dash two SD40s to Alstom for remanufacturing. They later returned to CN for long term lease, the units traded their CN paint for a Coat of grey and GCFX reporting marks. Here we find CN train 398 with an all SD40 lash up including a pair of GCFX rebuilds along with a SD40 from both CN and UP. The train is just about to duck under Lemonville Road and pass Aldershot yard as it continues its journey to Toronto yard.

  1. If you look just above the ties, you can make out a disarray of wood….I cut that tree down one night while a train was going by…so no one would hear me…
I used to park on that littel berm there and that tree was just in the way…

  2. Blimey!!!! Thats the one I used to hug!!!

  3. I used to spend a lot of time on that bridge :)
Didn’t take much to get congested there back in the day.

  4. Maybe you long forgot I met you on that bridge? Parked up on it. There was no traffic. Not on the road, anyway……..

  5. Don’t sweat it Marcus…When I first met Mooney…I tried to forget him too.

  6. I’ve met a lot of people between Bayview and Aldershot over the years. I know we met up once at Bayview too. Reg Button used to park on that bridge a lot as well. I’m sure he is missed.
