On a trip to Newfoundland on the search for 42 inch gauge equipment for the Pinafore Park Railway we stopped at the Mine at Buchans NFL where we found Whitcomb #4 busy sorting Ore cars on a cool day September 1977. I believe this was very near the end of this interesting operation and all that remains are memories and Photos
We did purchase a GE 25 Tonner and Flatcar from the Bowaters Papermill in Cornerbrook which operated on the Pinafore Park Railway with the 25 Tonner now operating in Huntsville

  1. I did not know about this operation. I’ve added it to the list of railways – since it was a substantial operation with significant mileage.

  2. This is nice. I have seen shots of the locomotives but this may be the first shot I have seen of a train.

  3. Dang Larry – wish you guys had grabbed this one instead! ;)

  4. Fantastic photo!!!!

  5. Great photo Larry! I was honoured you allowed me to include it on page 136 of RAILS AROUND THE ROCK!

  6. Gents any existing narrow gauge industrial railways still operating in Canada?

Stella Jones in Delson qc still operates narrow gauge for internal use….

Wondering if it is the last….

White horse and yukon nonwithstanding for their mow freights… or tourist and fantasy lines (ie narrow gauge garden railways)
