Caption: Canadian National 4-8-4 Northern 6218 is pictured in Fort Erie on October 16th 1973, being prepared for turn overto the Town of Fort Erie a week later on October 25th 1973, when CN 4-8-2 6060 would be present. After retirement from regular service in the late 50's, and going on to power steam excursions in the 1960's, 6218 was retired from excursion service in 1971 (replaced by 6060), and donated two years later.

  1. Finally!! The big loco upon delivery to the museum. Good slice of history there, Bill.

  2. But so very sad, as she was operable and serviceable at this time. Once displayed at Fort Erie, she has been allowed to deteriorate beyond repair. She was one of the most beautiful Northerns operated by CNR, and deserves a better fate; certainly better care.
