I'm up on the side of the hill overlooking the Bayview Jct as a Hamilton-bound transfer rolls by. Nice to see it with 4 units. Seen are CN 1324, 1242, 1254 and 7033. There are 39 cars and caboose was CN79663. There used to be so many of those old SWs around. They are all gone from the CN roster now; the leader 1324 went to Quebec & Ontario Pulp & Paper, ( RFP Thorold ), retaining its number.

  1. I miss those old units too. When i worked out of Oshawa we used 5 of them on 403, the Oshawa to Aldershot turn. Boy those units would throw out sparks like crazy at full throttle! Thankfully at least 2 are still around. 7303 at the steel transfer in Hamilton and the other at the steel transfer at Mac Yrd

  2. Soooo Arnold…if you were shooting that today…would you be running over to the Skyway diner for lunch afterwards ?? :) :)

Hey Phil…why did you stop on Sunday on a high green? Was it just to say hello to me :) By the way,,the suicidal male was not me ..

  3. Great picture Mr. Mooney, love these units!! Always make time to try to catch the one over at the steel transfer in Hamilton.

  4. My neighbour Norm (engineer with CN until 1961), God rest his soul, told me of how he also enjoyed the SW1200RS’s on the transfer. If the tonnage was lighter he would idle the lead unit and let the MU’d sisters do all the work, while enjoying a much quieter ride. Really miss Norm. BTW, pretty sure it’s CN 7304 at Parkdale.

  5. I always enjoy your photos Arnold especially those taken at Bayview—thanks for sharing

  6. Thanks guys, for kind comments. Glad Bayview shots are appreciated..I have more than enough of those.:o) Snake: HOW did you know I ‘live’ in the Skyway Diner? Now I am very curious, and I know you’re not going to level with me…. sneaky snake.

  7. Arnold..is your corner booth spot with the curvy boobie girl waitress…”your” spot ???

  8. Hahahaha..funneeee sneaky snake. It is wherever they can put me. No favourite spot. Sorry :o ) As far as the waitress goes, its the little one that always stops to chat.

  9. @snake…lol no my friend it was just the timing and the location. I was pulling down to get clear of Aldershot east and you happened to be right there so I thought i would wave at you :-)

  10. I’m not sure what’s better, Mr. Mooney’s shots on here or the friendly banter back and forth! lol
