On a recent visit to the principal Central Maine & Quebec yard at Farnham, I thought I was going to get skunked. Nothing there but a few rail cars and a whole slew of 'no trespassing' signs; especially around the former CP Office and Station which looked gutted. Hopefully restoration is in order. All of a sudden the signals activated. Phew!!! And in backed a 5 unit freight. Now, THAT was better. So this was the catch, CMQ 9021, 9020, 3816, 3057 and LTEX 2540. The first two units x-CP "barns" and the last unit still in BNSF colours. The 3057 I remember seeing numerous times as FURX. The 3816? No idea on it. Anyone?

  1. CMQ 3816 is a former ATSF GP35, rebuilt to GP38-3 specs.

  2. That was quick. Thanks, Mike.

  3. Quite the opposite concerning the station, demolition may be its future. MMA had used it as an office but CMQ has not and the city does not want it.

  4. Well, Mr. Berry, it sure looks like it would be coming down; as it has been gutted and just the shell remains; windows and all that removed; and fence around it. I was told it was going to be saved…….but kinda wonder. A true demolition would have made me think they would just move in with the heavy equipment and begin tearing it down. But no. It hasn’t started that way.

  5. Interesting, there was no fence around it when I was last in Farnham in April.

  6. No problem, Arnold… Google ;)

  7. Thanks, Mike. Old guys don’t google as well as they used to.>BG< The station, according to what came up on the screen, is Heritage. So yes, thats what it looked like…..a reconditioning.

  8. What a sweet consist!
