I do not image much has changed from back when I shot my earliest image at Banff, 1978, but I do know the view must be just as spectacular. The station was deemed a Heritage Building back in 1991, and sees visits from the VIA Canadian and the Rocky Mountaineer.

  1. Some 20 odd years ago I was fascinated with the idea of taking the Canadian out to Banff….round trip. I never knew why I chose Banff…I mean why not continue on further than that? Obviously I won’t ever live that dream again due to the woeful Mulroney cutbacks of the early 90′s…when did the Canadian get reinstated on these rails? I thought it ran further north through Jasper?

Nonetheless….great photo. You really captured the scenery beautifully!

  2. Really sorry, Todd. looking at OLD notes. It is just the Mountaineer that stops at Banff. I guess there was no time in which both trains utilize the station in the same period, but not sure.
