With the weeks quickly passing before Cando passes over the reigns of the OBRY to Trillium, there are a few shots along the line I still want to do justice. The shot here is off the side of Highway 401 near the old village of Meadowvale, just north of Streetsville. Unfortunately the warehouse on the short stub to the left stopped receiving rail service a couple years ago. The industry to the right though is still very active and is served by Canadian Pacific's train T14. Today the OBRY's southbound trip has several cars in tow as they head for the CP interchange in Streetsville where a number of cars await their northbound trip.

  1. My understanding is Kaoten-Natie consolidated both operations to the west plant.

  2. Thanks Steve, I heard something similar. I guess the new owners here have no use for rail service.

  3. New owners? Both sides were Kaoten-Natie as far as I know in later years. Kaoten got out of their lease on the east side building and perhaps a new company is in there now. Either way, perhaps that new company doesn’t require rail service but I don’t think CP lost a customer.

  4. Katoen-Natie would be on the left..and yes Steve I believe they bought the warehouse out of view on the right. I’ve seen CP switch boxcars at the warehouse “short stub” (holds about 10 car loads ;) a few years ago. But you could be right maybe no rail service (outbound loads) is required. Nice pic to remember Cando’s OBRY operations by.

  5. Great shot Marcus. You guys did a fine job chasing us yesterday. Good to see you out there.

  6. Marcus, you chased them too on 5/25? Surprised I never crossed paths with you. Me and Miles chased them from Orangeville that day and crossed paths many times along the way. Nice shot also! I remember seeing box cars in the east plant’s siding many years back but now I always see them at the West Plant while driving over this overpass so it appears Steve is right.
