CN 108 passes the former Pool elevator at Reford Saskatchewan. You can tell this is the former GTP mainline by the vast distance between the elevator and the right of way.

  1. Great prairie shot. It is such a shame to see the demise of those old elevators. Kinda like the loss of stations in the East.

  2. Nice shot. Why did GTP put such a distance between the elevator and the right of way?

  3. Thanks guys.

awmooney: Thats a very interesting observation, I think your on to something.

Michael: I’ve heard it had something to do with GTP wanting room for expansion at all of their stops but I don’t know for sure. It is interesting to compare the location of elevators along former CNoR lines to these GTP ones though, there is a very noticeable difference.
