Interestingly enough the right of way is still intact.
Also good background here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Simcoe_Junction_Railway
The RoW I know was intact enough for a walking trail, which is what all these old lines seem to turn into.:o) I’ve not been up there to ‘snoop’ for quite a few years now.
Good find and save Mr. M.
It’s nice it was moved to a “village” but also good to see it where was actually in use.
Loving the old historical station shots and old now torn up lines My Mooney. I’m sure you’ve been to this site:
https://www.openrailwaymap.org/
The work gone into it is astounding. Now zoom into Southern Ontario and look at all the abandoned lines!! This station being saved and not demolished or a victim of arson and being moved gives me a warm feeling.
Now if I can only get my copy of ‘The Train Doesn’t Stop Here Anymore’ by Ron Brown back…for now i’ll enjoy your repertoire!
Thanks so much for your commentary, Brad. The old station images need all the support they can get.:o) I did not know this Rail Site you posted, but I did know several like it. This one is superb !!! Mucho thanks. PS: If you want to see some nice shots of stations and everything else, CP only; get yourself a copy of “Canadian Pacific Facilities, Vol. 3″ by John Riddell. It is a beautiful works.
