Nothing special for this time frame, I guess you could say, but I liked this image because it is actually one of the very few I have which includes the late day sun without any train actually blocking a clear view of the old Freeman station. The scene is basic and free of clutter. GO 723 is making the evening run to Hamilton, and GO 901 is the APCU on the eastward end of the train. The MoW building is gone and the station has been moved and preserved a short distance away on Fairview Av. This view is now empty save for weeds.

  1. Another keeper AW..the wye between the Halton and Oakville Subs was still there. I used to love operating those EX Rock Island GP40′s as they had great response and pulled very well.
The station too brings back memories of me being part of the train crew and stopping there and all those summer evenings when the “foamers” had their lawn chairs west of the station for the front row action the rails. We used to keep our train orders and give them to the gang on the platform…sigh

  2. MofW ..??
Is that what became of the former CP Express building during its final years ?? If so I was not aware of that, living as we were in places like Chatham and Sarnia from 1978-1998.
Hmm…..unceremonious ending to that structure, the location of many a Saturday afternoon poker game and other such non-company activity…ahem

  3. Mercer – I’ve heard rumours, primarly from ole AW himself, that you were quite the foamer des- tramp-ski in your day.

  4. He’s simply jealous

  5. I know this is a railroad site, but there are so many times I feel I missed the boat……….
