CP 113 lead by 8909 hugs the spectacular shoreline of Lake Superior as she passes through Cavers. The area is renowned for tunnels, rock cuts and slide fences.  It was one of the most expensive areas to build when the CPR first crossed the country.  The original "cornerstone" is still part of this beautiful wall, and is a credit to the great workmanship that went on in those days.

  1. Nice catch Steve. Been to Cavers many times but can’t seem to place this specific location with that stone work. Is this a drone shot?

  2. The stone work is not visible from the track or mainland. Don’t own a drone, so we chartered a zodiac out of Rossport knowing there was a Worktrain in the area and also that 113 was coming once the WT cleared. We chased 113 along this stretch due to the fact it is fairly visible from the water. The zodiac owner knows every inch of the shoreline and he gets the credit for advising us of this location.

  3. Worth it. Makes you wonder if they used pieces of the blasted out Canadian shield to build that wall – it has a certain colour to it.
