Here is one of those second hand SD40 rebuilds with quite a history, CP SD40M-2 5492 started life as C&O 7531built as a non-Dash-2 SD40, it eventually was renumbered to CSX 8390 before being retired and sold to NRE and renumbered 8390. It later went to Morrison Knudsen and was again renumbered MKCX 9418, In 1995 MK upgraded it into a Dash-2 and sold it to CP. It remained on CP's roster until 2012 when it was retired. Here it is seen leading train 167 into Guelph Jct. on a pleasant July day with three other SD40-2's trailing.

  1. Nice leader! Was this taken by the horse bridge at Mile 37?

  2. Never mind re-read the caption. It’s coming off the Hamilton Sub. Gotcha.
