Caption: Well, I tried to do the shot at the peak but it was an unequivocal failure. I botched the focus on 384 and couldn't tolerate the crowds anymore (even though the shuttles hadn't even started running yet it was bad), so I decided to pack it in and give up even though I knew 394 was coming. On the way out I heard the grumbling of 394 nearby and was able to quickly get in position for this shot, having to zoom in to get past the heavy procession of people heading in and out of the area. Even though it wasn't the peak itself, it would have to do, and to be honest, I was fairly pleased with how it turned out anyways. If I try again next year, I'll make sure I save a vacation day and go during the week.

This is a great Halloween photo. Beautiful fall colours indicating the season and triple 6 in the numberboards for a little Halloween fun. :-O
I sympathize with you versus the raging mob of crazies up there running around at Dundas Peak. It was getting bad 10 years ago; can only imagine it now because I no longer go near the place with the parking charges and all. True, there are still some places where you can access for free but this place is good (in my opinion) only early morning now; overcast days as the trees cast a lot of shadows. Too bad, you have to wait another year already. The wind must have done a good number on the hillside leaves after this weekend………….
Yeah, as a rule I tend to avoid places that are overcrowded but figured since I live so close and don’t mind a good trek up a hillside that I should do that shot at least once. We went before the shuttles even started running and even then, it was crowded. I can only imagine what it was like later that afternoon.
The trees do indeed cast a lot of shadows. It was pretty dark on the tracks still when 384 came through, and even here you can obviously see lots of shadows still.
