Here's an all-around Grey Day. I'm good at being stuck with cloudy days but this is a bit ridiculous. Not much in this scene that isn't grey. Thats a 'chessie-cat' scheme barely noticeable on the #2125 trailing leader CSXT (as stenciled on cab)decked in its mostly grey Seaboard Coast Line paint. The ballast is grey, likewise the sky.
It is one of those days. Even the old King Eddie hotel on the left, living out its last months, is a coat of grey paint, accented by boarded up windows as it awaits the wrecking ball. The setting for this eastbound is at Queen St in the Falls; not exactly a classy part of town either. Colour it grey.

  1. Very nice catch!

  2. This is great. It’s perfect!

  3. Eastbound?
Is that heading to the bridge to NFNY?
Was the CSX interlined with CP or did it originate in Welland Yard?
The colours do suit that area of Niagara Falls Ont.

  4. Eastbound…its a hundred yards from the bridge; heading over the river to NFNY.
CSX ran across the CASO until early 1996.

  5. No colour from the bagged signal too.

  6. I’d give a lot to be able to shoot this in the flesh. A LOT.

  7. Hah! You don’t think I wish I could go back to those days and REALLY stake the line out for what it was worth? Oh I really miss those days now that it is just plain dead for railroads in that town.
