Caption: Nothing to indicate VIA is going to be that big Canadian passenger train outfit just yet. In the days just before the formation of VIA the power consists on many of the premier passenger trains was quite interesting. And with the gradual transition to the new VIA colours in the immediate years to follow, it remained so. I got out trackside as often as I could. Thats my explanation for so many lousy light photos. :o)
This wide-angle image off the Botanical Gardens hillside shows a typical #75 of the day, no doubt a weekend train, as they were quite heavy, but I forgot to mark the exact date on the slide. CN 6793, 6627, 3121 and 3107 is the power. Of interest is the 6793 is now on the Grand Canyon Railway down in Arizona.

Very nice – is this a medium format negative Arnold? Sure has a nice wide angle look to it and I can’t say I see too many wide angle looking shots from this era.
No; it is actually a nice new 28MM lens (I forget the make) that I bought for my old Pentax KX camera. At least I think it was a KX; it has been so long since that one died I am not sure of the model.
