CN GP9RM 7031 and SW1200RSM 7305 are reaching deep into the Stelwire Parkdale Works in Hamilton's expansive industrial core as they service the facility. Being unfamiliar with the area at the time, it was hard to pin point the map to the exact location where the photograph was taken. Also, any information on how much this industrial trackage has changed since or even if it's still there today as well as any additional information would be welcome and appreciated.

  1. I believe this facility is a current ArcelorMittal facility up on Strathearne Ave north of Strathearne Yard. The tanks in the background line up with this as well. Coordinates of your shot would be 43.262112, -79.787540 I think. Take a look on google maps and check the 3D view especially. :)

  2. Oh yes, and to answer your question, no, this track is not in place. And there’s a guard shack/gate to even get into this property now. I don’t think there’s much chance of replicating this shot anytime soon haha.

  3. Thanks Jamie for all the information and coordinates. Yes, that has to be the place. Damn, all the track into there is gone. I imagine at the time there was no guard shack and we were shooting from the edge of the parking lot while they were switching it.
