The switching of CP's eastbound Canadian is well underway at Sudbury, Ontario on July 22nd, 1969. The inbound train # 2, arrived with an A-B-A set of F units. Per CP's practice at the time, the middle unit was set off at Sudbury. It would return west on that nights # 1. I never understood why CP would not simply set off the trailing unit, and add it back to the westbound train in the trailing position, rather than go through the extra work of cutting out the middle unit and adding it back in to # 1 in the middle position. This seemed like a lot of extra work. The yard crew would eventually take the B-unit to the roundhouse. From left, the units are: 1904, 7091, 1410 and 1417.
