I have only shot the Oakville Sub east of Aldershot before this once, so it isn't often you find me around here. However, I heard 550 tell the RTC they were soon going to be heading to Oakville with 5000 feet of racks (brought to Aldershot by the previous day's 570), so I made the easy decision to go check this move out.

  1. Plus, with double GMD1s, pretty easy call :)

  2. Great lashup. Funny how they went from pulling 40′ grain boxcars on light-rail branchlines to tall 89′ autoracks nearly 60 years later…

  3. It is amazing that these units still soldier on 60 years after they were built while “newer” units have met the scrappers torch!
A testament to the EMD/GMD. GE may be the dominant builder in the last 20 plus years, but I am pretty sure NO GE will have this longevity!! Remember UBoats and C series? Where are they now :-)
