The 5166 and 5143 have just come out of a hole in the wall onto a short bridge. There is only 5.5 miles left to Boston Bar and the crew will enjoy a break waiting for their return ride to Kamloops. The mile board at the tunnel exit reads 120. Pretty certain of the year, month could be June or July.

  1. Great shot and location Seth. Can you tell me how to get there?

All the best for the New Year! – Joe

  2. I hope this New Year has started out well for you also. :-) I know when I took these photos, I took quite a few. The short time I was parked there 2 trains went by. Which meant a place to park the car so the family can stretch the legs. Looking on google earth, north of Canyon Alpine (±3km) and just south of the Ainslie Creek bridge, there is a pullout on the west side of the road. Very likely where I parked. I imagine I wandered over closer to the tracks looking for a good spot. Also, it is ±8km from the north end of Boston Bar to the pullout and bridge on Hwy1.

  3. Thanks for the detail. Will seek it out in the spring.

  4. Jeez !!!!!

  5. There are some precarious spots along here. My biggest wow came when I took the family to visit the tunnels built for the Kettle Valley railway at the south end of the Coquihalla Hwy. Absolutely amazing how they got men and equipment in there to carve those bores.

  6. It IS incredible. And to think many these days will not even walk in the woods without their phone.

  7. Amazing!
