In response to Ryan Gaynors response to my initial image regarding the sad and deteriorating state of affairs in Hawk Junction; here is the sign on entrance to the town, as seen in 1996. The sign has taken various forms and reconstruction over the years, but, alas, the message is always the same.

  1. I remember that sign from a family vacation many moons ago! I wish we had taken a photo of it then. I’m glad you did.

  2. The sign changes every few years as it becomes weather beaten. The latest one is not as nice, but they really emphasized the light bulb. :o )
    Same message though.

  3. Is that a working light switch? So sad about Hawk Jct. Seems the whole region, barring the main lines, is questionable with railroading. I modelled th CN/CP Manitouwadge subs in the 80′s..both gone, CN Kinghorn sub..gone. Now Algoma Central is on the block..and Huron Central is ?? if they don’t receive Gov’t funding Really sad. Thanks to you and Ryan, Mr Mooney for documenting.
