For those interested in rail cars.......

I came across these two rather attractive hoppers at the Purely Canadian grain facility in Lajord, SK; just a small community SE of Regina along the Stewart Southern Railway line. (This was the former CP Tyvan Sub) This rather modern and expanding facility has capacity for 250 hoppers at its location. They deal in grains, organic grain, oil seeds, beans among other things; and in Oct 2020, after this image was taken, they merged with "Above Foods", a plant protein food business.
Nice that they would 'do up' a couple of former 'Visit Alberta' grain hoppers. I only noticed these two, and wonder if there are more, or plans for more. They certainly are striking.

Purely Canadian also has another facility which is located at Battle River, Alberta.

  1. Arnold, Battle River Railway, similar to Stewart Southern Railway, is a farmer owned railway not far from Edmonton. Have been receiving their weekly e-mail report ever since they started up. They have joined the Purley Foods umbrella as well to assist their shippers in marketing their crops. BRR acquired a number of Alberta themed grain hoppers, putting on the Battle River name, but otherwise in the same “Alberta Blue” which is evident at the end of the above hoppers.. Very colourful Purely also has an office in Blenheim, ON. Thanks for posting, John

  2. Well thanks, John !! I guess thats my stop next trip out that way…..Battle River!! I am wondering how many of the hoppers will have “special ID” like the ones pictured. A couple of gons on the SSS line have been done up in unusual paint as well. I shall post those in future.

  3. As an after thought, John; I bet you were surprised to see Purely Canadian hoppers show up on this site.:o)
