Late August 1986 was the very last time I witnessed the fan-favourite CN A-B-A combination on the Nanticoke Steel train #725. This edition features CN 9166, 9195 and 9177. The next time I had a chance to get out for it was Sept 2nd, and 4572 had subbed for 9177. Then by the 16th, 4520 subbed for 9195. Throughout September at least one or two of the old cab units were knocked out of the power consist. I guess this run took a toll on the old warriors.
The view here is just before Dundas station, rather late in the afternoon. Too late for a chase.

  1. That’s pretty fantastic! I don’t understand why CN can’t do this same run hauling coke from Hamilton to Nanticoke. The number of trucks going back and forth is ridiculous.

  2. Thanks.
Whenever I hear or read a comment like yours I keep thinking “politics”.
