The International accelerates out of the St. Clair River tunnel in to the first sunlight on Canadian soil since leaving Michigan on the other side of the river. At the top of the grade, the train will make a stop at the Sarnia station. Was this near the end of the International? Didn't it usually have more than three cars? We photographed counterpart VIA 85 at Komoka earlier that day with AMTK 37 and only three Superliner cars also.

  1. Great shot Rob! If I recall correctly, it only had 3 Superliner cars on most trains in the twilight of operation in 2004. You have a lot of good shots in your collection :) I wish I documented Amtrak through Kitchener more. The shot I have on this site is probably my best.

  2. Great shot. The film title ‘Silver Streak’ came to mind upon seeing this. Last run of the International was just a couple weeks away, April 23, 2004.

  3. Wow… so I may have actually gone out of my way one time to photograph an Amtrak train! How about that? Thanks guys.

  4. Last 688 was only 3 cars. I remember the day before a private car came in from chicago…
