Back in the day many years ago you would see the odd person with a fishing pole or a cooler heading towards the quarry near the west end of Guelph Jct. Last summer while photographing OSR coming back from Guelph I remember pulling-up to the crossing and thinking to myself, there were certainly a lot of railfan’s wanting to shoot this as well. I couldn't have been more wrong as it turned out all the cars parked along the road where either people heading to the quarry or returning. There wasn’t another railfan around. For almost an hour I watched as the seemingly endless parade of folks either walked along the ROW with coolers, beach gear and eventually even ATV’s heading to the popular quarry or back to their vehicles. Man how times have changed.

Here CP T69 builds its train to head back west with 3022, while OSR completes its last moves of the day in the background while the steady stream of people continue their way to the nearby quarry during a humid summer evening.

  1. Yikes! I wonder how the crew felt working with all those trespassers around…

  2. While there I saw the conductor talk to one group of people, however I’m not sure if it was these guys or not.
