Caption: Wandering just north of Weyburn; stopped to catch a CP going by. Nothing special. But, the enthusiastic sidekick realized this train was heading up toward Rouleau (aka: Dog River); which most of you know is the village that "Corner Gas" was filmed at. Oh so don't we just have to get a photo up there. Flat prairie speeds for CP heading N/W must be at least 100KMH; so I was pushing the pedal pretty had to get ahead of it. So, before I was forced to wander all over town seeing the sights ?? we managed this shot by the elevator. The significance I guess is the name; which is beginning to peel off at the front; and soon, perhaps, Dog River will revert back to Rouleau on the most prominent structure in the town. Grubby CP power is 8822 and 9701.

The shock of this, Aitch, is that I put this to the RP “queue” today, not knowing that the elevator burned down this morning, Nov5th!! So this scene sure became history in a hurry.
I was about to comment that the caption is missing a significant detail! Eerie timing.
Well Arnold, you and Sidekick are historians whether you know it or not. Her enthusiasm and your “pedal to the metal” resulted in yet another historical picture, maybe the last picture of the “Dog River” grain elevator standing. Just another little piece of history (even if it is TV history) recorded for posterity. Well done, and thank you for posting. Question, was the elevator operating when you took the picture ? John
There was no activity around the elevator at the time, John; as most of the crops were probably in by then. However, it is/was a still active structure. The siding was not rusty.

I might not have gotten a shot at all if it wasn’t for Tammy’s enthusiasm. She is somewhat of a “Corner Gas” junkie. I guess I was the horse and she was the reins. GO !!!!!
