A westbound freight behind heavy Mikado 5417 with Pacific 2235 on the point as a helper approaches the wooden bridge just east of Galt. The helper will stay on until cresting the grade at Orr's Lake, where it will duck in the siding, coast back down to Galt, head around the wye, and run light back to Toronto. Note the brakeman hanging out the door. There was once two farm bridges at this location, both of which can be seen in this 1945 aerial.Original Photographer Unknown, Jacob Patterson Collection Slide.

  1. It’s always interesting to see some vintage photos of freights led by steam. Thanks for sharing!
