The main spur branched off the CP Kingston Subdivision, and continued east past here and curved north to serve the nearby Superior Propane dealer. By this point in time, less than a year remained for CP's remaining operations in Kingston.

Not to be confused with CN's more well-known Kingston Subdivison, CP's Kingston Sub was originally built as the Kingston & Pembroke Railway in the 1870's, running from Kingston's downtown waterfront north to Renfrew. Like many early lines, the K&P was absorbed into Canadian Pacific, and the line became CP's Kingston Subdivision. Over the next few decades the line would be abandoned in sections from the early 1960's until the final 35-mile section from Tichborne (off the CP Belleville Sub) to Kingston was abandoned in 1986.

The CP Express terminal in Kingston was located along the south side of Dalton Avenue west of Division Street, in the northeast part of town near Highway 401. It had been relocated here from a downtown waterfront location in 1967, and was served off a spur from the CP Kingston Subdivision. When CP abandoned the Kingston Sub and left town, CN continued to serve at least Superior Propane via their Queens North Spur, connecting to a short section of former CP track via a switchback to access both sites (it's questionable if the CP Express terminal was ever served by CN during this time). Today, everything has been redeveloped into a large commercial plaza.
